Gingerbread Cookies
Cookies3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 /4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 teaspoons soda
2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon each - cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and salt
- Melt shortening over low heat. Cool, add sugar, molasses, and egg.
- Beat well.
- Mix flour, soda, and spices. Add to above mixture and beat well. Chill.
- Form into 1 inch balls, roll in sugar and place on well greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Flatten with a bottom of glass.
- Bake at 375 degrees for eight to ten minutes.
